Child and Adolescent Therapist
Catherine Nafissi is a psychotherapist at the Center for Developing Minds providing counseling for children, adolescents and their families. She uses play, art and talk therapy to treat a variety of childhood problems, such as depression, dealing with loss and trauma, challenges with confidence and adjusting to school and family.
Catherine has been a child psychotherapist in a private practice setting for the past ten years. Prior to that, she was a licensed clinician at EMQ FamiliesFirst , assisting children and adolescents placed in kinship and foster care. While at EMQ, she worked closely with parents and foster parents, teaching parenting skills, helping them to access needed community resources, and facilitating wraparound services for the children and their families. She has assisted numerous families in creating support networks, enabling youth to live successfully in their natural community environment.
Catherine received her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University and a B.A. in psychology from San Francisco State University. She is currently a member of California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and speaks fluent Farsi.
