Educational Psychologist
School Psychologist

Lara works at the Center for Developing Minds assessing learning and development in children of all ages. She conducts neuropsychological, educational, and developmental evaluations to determine children’s strengths and weaknesses to best direct effective interventions.

Prior to joining the Center for Developing Minds, Lara worked for several years as a school psychologist in the public school systems of Massachusetts, Arizona, and California. Her insight into the public school system is based on her work on multi-disciplinary teams leading Student Study Team meetings, and running Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings. Lara has consulted extensively with administrators, psychologists, specialists, teachers, and families regarding appropriate services, placements, accommodations, and modifications for preschoolers and school-aged children with exceptional needs.

Lara served as a Board member of the Santa Clara County Association of School Psychologists (SCCASP) during the 2005/06 school year. Her duties included authoring and preserving Board minutes as well as generating and organizing on-going professional development conferences for school psychologists in the Bay area. She maintains memberships to SCCASP as well as the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). Lara continues to work as a school psychologist in the San Jose area, providing services to children with learning difficulties, autism spectrum tendencies, and social-emotional or behavioral issues.

Lara holds an M.A. and Specialist Degree in School Psychology from Tufts University in Boston and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Maine. She is a Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP) and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP). She has published various research articles and has a specialty in school violence prevention.
